Generative AI creative production was delivered for “Cheer on Samurai Japan with Google: ‘I Don’t Know the Rules,’” a TV commercial introducing AI Mode in Google Search.
An AI director and specialist AI creators worked together to develop visual assets aligned with the campaign concept, the commercial's overall tone, and the requirements of the wider production.
Project Overview
The commercial introduces AI Mode in Google Search, available through smartphone and desktop Web browsers, while explaining baseball rules in an approachable and engaging way for viewers who may be unfamiliar with the sport or major international tournaments such as the World Baseball Classic.
Rather than treating generative AI as a standalone production tool, the project connected AI creative direction, specialist creators, and an established commercial-production workflow. This structure allowed generative visuals to function as part of a cohesive advertising concept.
Scope of Work
AI Creative Direction
The campaign objectives and directorial approach were translated into a defined role for generative AI, including the visual direction, production process, and responsibilities of each creator. Coordination across multiple contributors helped maintain consistency and quality throughout the work.
Generative AI Video Production
A specialist production team was assembled through the AI Creators network to develop generative visual material for the commercial. The process involved generation, selection, refinement, and finishing, preparing each asset for integration into the wider TV production.
Production Approach
The project demonstrates a collaborative model in which an AI director establishes the creative framework and specialist creators contribute their respective techniques within it. Human direction, generative production, review, and post-production are connected as a single workflow rather than treated as separate processes.
